Children’s Photographs and the Brazilian Passport Appointment

A passport application in Brazil can involve either a photograph brought to the appointment or an image captured by the Federal Police. The important distinction in the domestic service is the child’s age. For applicants under five, the Federal Police asks the accompanying adult to bring a recent photograph; older applicants normally have their image captured during attendance.

The published child-photo instruction specifies a correctly sized image with a white background. The child must still attend: supplying a photograph does not replace personal identification. Choose a portrait that shows the child as they look now, particularly after noticeable growth, and keep supporting identity documents ready for the same visit.
