Official Luxembourger diplomatic passport photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationLuxembourg’s diplomatic passport has an integrated identity page with a laser-engraved black-and-white facial image. The Council of the European Union’s PRADO record also identifies facial-image and fingerprint data in the electronic component. The visible portrait and the stored image serve the same purpose: connecting the diplomatic travel document to its individual holder.
That production method does not mean an applicant should independently convert every supplied photograph to black and white. The responsible passport service determines the source-image and capture arrangements for the diplomatic request. Keep the image with the official instructions and supporting identity documents; the specimen describes the finished document, not a public upload checklist.
Prepare a portrait that provides a recognisable likeness, with attention to photo quality, framing and facial expression. Our biometrics guide explains why preserving facial detail matters, and the detailed requirements below help with visual preparation. For a posting or request handled abroad, our embassy and consulate directory helps locate representation for Luxembourg. The PRADO record notes that validity relates to the mission’s duration, making this a document tied to official circumstances. Our visa finder can help explore the destination’s separate entry conditions once the passport request is organised.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
