Your Pakistani Passport Photograph Across Online and Office Applications

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports offers different application channels for passports from Pakistan. Its published process distinguishes eligible online applications from attendance at a regional passport office or Pakistani mission. In the office route, the portrait is captured during the application alongside identity details, followed by other verification steps. Knowing your route first avoids preparing an image for a submission method your application does not use.

The identity record is particularly important. Adults normally present a valid CNIC or NICOP, while children have their own documentary requirements. The passport portrait and biometrics help connect those records to the person applying. Check the latest application instructions for your age, renewal or modification category; online availability does not mean every first application follows the same workflow. Use the embassy and consulate directory to locate the responsible mission if applying abroad.

For a supplied digital photograph, retain the original and follow the portal’s current delivery instructions. For an office capture, review the photo requirements before attending so the photographic step is familiar. A current recognisable likeness, suitable facial expression and clear framing are more useful than cosmetic editing. Our photo quality guidance explains common issues without repeating the full specification below. Gather the requested identity documents and compare the personal details carefully: the image and the written record must identify the same applicant consistently throughout the passport process.
