Sri Lankan Diplomatic Passport Photo

The Portrait Linked to a Sri Lankan Diplomatic Appointment

The Department of Immigration and Emigration describes the diplomatic passport of Sri Lanka as a category for specified senior office-holders, Members of Parliament and people posted to prescribed positions at overseas missions. It distinguishes that document from an ordinary passport and from an official passport. The first requirement is therefore an authorised category and the relevant supporting request; the photograph identifies the holder of that entitlement rather than creating it.

Confirm the current application channel and photograph handover with the department or responsible institution. Sri Lanka’s general passport guidance distinguishes domestic digital-photo submission from applications through overseas missions. That difference matters when official duties place the applicant abroad: do not assume that a domestic studio submission or a consular set of prints can be substituted without checking. Keep the personal details and portrait consistent with the supporting identity documents and the official appointment or authorisation evidence.

The photo preparation guide, facial expression, framing and photo quality guides explain how to prepare a straightforward recognisable likeness. Use the detailed photo requirements below for the image itself, without adding a ceremonial dress requirement or copying a publicity photograph simply because it depicts the applicant in an official role. If a digital photograph is required, confirm that it has reached the correct passport record. The embassy and consulate directory can identify the relevant office for overseas assistance and later entry formalities. A diplomatic passport application remains separate from a destination’s visa or accreditation process, even if those later procedures also ask for a portrait.
