Sri Lankan Licence Photos Depend on the Issuing Office’s Workflow

The Department of Motor Traffic in Sri Lanka distinguishes two methods for issuing a new smart-card driving licence. At offices using its online method, the photograph is taken during computerised processing. At offices using the offline method, the department asks for two passport-size black-and-white photographs with a white background. The word online here describes the office’s processing system; it should not be read as proof that the entire licence application is completed remotely.
